While both options allow students to learn from home, they provide very different levels of structure, support, and academic guidance.

What Is Homeschooling?
Homeschooling is an educational option where parents or guardians oversee instruction and academic planning independently.
In Indiana, homeschool families often:
- Select curriculum materials
- Create schedules
- Teach lessons

For many families, homeschooling offers greater educational independence and flexibility.
As students move through high school, however, academic planning often becomes more complex.
Parents may become responsible for:

- Tracking transcripts and credits
- Managing graduation requirements
- Supporting college or career planning
- Monitoring daily academic progress
Some families enjoy that level of responsibility. Others prefer a model that provides flexibility while sharing instructional responsibilities with experienced educators.
